Reflections from Middle Age
You blink, and suddenly you’re 50. Life feels different at this age. I like it, but it is full of changes and questions. This is what I write about - life as a woman in middle age.
You blink, and suddenly you’re approaching 50. Blink again and the big celebratory party is already in the review mirror and fast receding. Life feels different at this age - in your late 40s, early 50s. You’re definitely older, sometimes wiser and you’ve moved on from the craziness of trying to work out what the heck parenting is about into a new stage that feels a bit more “me”. This stage feels full of freedom, but also confusion. Dealing with wrinkles and a horrible sense of irrelevance, navigating our youth obsessed culture, managing our ageing parents, and young adult children, and wondering whether you scaled the heights career wise you wanted to. There’s menopause and the weird stuff that happens to our bodies. But there is also more acceptance. A greater sense of self-love. And the opportunity to explore, finally, one’s self.
I like this age. But it is not without its stumbles and questions. It’s not without its need for reflection. That is what I write about. Reflections from the view up here, as a women, in middle age.
I hope you’ll join me on the ride.
